Transatlantic Trade: Supply Chain Security and Sustainability

    • September 09, 2022

On September 9, 2022, the Aspen Institute Germany hosted an exclusive breakfast discussion on Transatlantic Trade: Supply Chain Security and Sustainability with Laure Lane, Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at United Parcel Service (UPS). The event will be moderated by Dr. Stormy-Annika Mildner, Director of the Aspen Institute Germany.
The COVID-19 pandemic together with Russia’s war against Ukraine has profoundly impacted global production networks and supply chains. The changing geopolitical and geo-economic environment, with rising tensions with China, has sharpened the eye for risks and vulnerability in international trade on both sides of the Atlantic. At the same time, the impact of climate change and frequently poor working conditions in many developing countries have reiterated the urgent need for more sustainable supply chains. Supply chain security and sustainability are thus essential topics discussed in the EU-U.S. Trade and Technology Council.
How can we foster growth and prosperity through international trade whilst promoting equity among global communities and preserving vital resources for future generations? Together with a small group of selected participants, we discussed these and many other questions.
