On May 24, 2023, a digital workshop for participants of the project “U.S.-German Forum Future Agriculture” will take place to develop joint recommendations on climate and agriculture in working groups. One goal of the exchange is for the participating farmers and other stakeholders to generate recommendations on the respective focus topic, which will be published in a joint publication at the end of the cohort year. The project brings together eight German and U.S. farmers and other agricultural stakeholders to promote innovative solutions for a sustainable future for agriculture and rural areas. The project also aims to strengthen the transatlantic relationship through collaborative exchanges in rural areas and the agricultural sector as a whole. The first cohort involves participants working in arable agriculture in eastern Germany and the Corn Belt in the U.S. Midwest. In addition to virtual meetings, this year’s cohort will meet in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, June 27-July 1, 2023. At this meeting, participants will discuss solutions for practice and policy and transatlantic collaboration opportunities, tour best practices on the ground, and engage with local representatives from government, business, and academia. The project is supported by the Transatlantic Program of the Federal Republic of Germany with funds from the European Recovery Program (ERP) of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK).
