On March 22, 2023, Aspen Institute Germany and the project partner, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, hosted the second virtual meeting for participants of the U.S.-German Forum Future Agriculture project and welcomed Dr. Jonathan Coppess, Associate Professor and Director of the Gardner Agriculture Policy Program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, as expert and speaker. Dr. Coppess’s presentation focused on agricultural policy in the USA, setting the stage for all future discussions in this project. The event gave the eight participants from Germany the opportunity to learn more about the important players and policy tools in the U.S. agricultural landscape, as well as current trends and key issues in current and future agricultural policy. The project is funded by the Transatlantic Program of the Federal Republic of Germany with funds from the European Recovery Program (ERP) of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK).
