On April 23, Aspen Germany hosted a virtual conversation on “ COVID-19: The European Union – Risk or chance” with Elmar Brok, former member of the European Parliament, member of the board of directors of the EVP, member of the Federal board of the CDU, Vice-president of the Centrist Democrat International. He stressed that the fight against Covid-19 was not a national matter and that individual national rehabilitation programs would not be enough. Only a unified European approach would be effective in overcoming the crisis. He pleaded for more competences on a European level in order to meet common challenges in a collective and effective way.
