On June 23rd, on the occasion of the general meeting of the Association of Friends and the traditional Aspen summer party, a virtual discussion on the topic “Germany, Europe and America – a difficult relationship in times of Corona” took place. Aspen Germany’s Executive Director Rüdiger Lentz discussed with the President of the German Marshall Fund, Dr. Karen Donfried, the opportunities and challenges of a future-oriented agenda for transatlantic relations. Dr. Karen Donfried is President of the German Marshall Fund of the United States. Previously, she was Senior Director for European Affairs in the US National Security Council. Other posts included the National Intelligence Council, State Department and Congressional Research Service, where she worked in the European area.
