The 2020 U.S. Presidential Election and the events leading to November 3, 2020, shaped public discussion and debate on both sides of the Atlantic. Given that the world found itself in a pandemic of unknown dimensions further pushed this consequential election to the center of public attention.
This is why Aspen Germany along with an exceptional group of transatlantic partner institutions and political foundations hosted the virtual event series Road to Election Night & Beyond. The series facilitated in-depth discussion amongst leading researchers, policy-makers, think-tanks, and civil society in the run up to the 2020 U.S. election.
In line with Aspen Germany’s mission, this series fostered debate on a healthy and strong transatlantic community and raised awareness for topics that continue to shape public perception in Germany, the United States, and Europe. Kicking off in September 2020, 50 speakers reached more than 6,000 live viewers from 25 countries with ten virtual and hybrid events on various topics ranging from transatlantic trade to electoral demographics, social media on the campaign trail to geostrategic implications of the election.
