On May 21, 2024, Aspen Germany, in collaboration with Microsoft Germany, is hosting the third workshop of the new event series, AITech Dialogues. The project, AITech Dialogues: AI for Sustainable and Just Societies, aims to address existing and emerging AI technologies, particularly focusing on ethical considerations regarding their impact and the required governance. The event is the third installment in the series “AITech Dialogues: AI for Sustainable and Just Societies” by Aspen Germany and Microsoft Germany. This series brings together a selected group of high-level experts in 2023 and 2024 to discuss coordinated and value-based responses to existing and emerging AI technologies, particularly focusing on ethical considerations regarding their societal impacts and necessary regulation. The event in May is centered around the guiding question, “How can workers, employers, or individuals in education benefit from AI applications while mitigating negative consequences?”. The launch of AI technologies like ChatGPT has sparked a debate about their transformative impact on education and the labor market. While some highlight the considerable benefits, such as enhanced personalized learning and continuous skill development, others predict these technologies could lead to significant job losses and create substantial educational challenges if not managed well.Clearly, the rapid evolution of AI is significantly impacting both work and educational systems as well as our societies as a whole. This event will delve into both the opportunities and challenges presented by the growing use of AI across various industries and educational settings. What strategies can be implemented to ensure the effective integration of AI technologies in academic and employment contexts while considering ethical considerations? How can AI be utilized to enhance personalized learning experiences and professional development, especially in the context of a changing work environment? In what ways can collaboration between stakeholders such as industry, universities, and policymakers facilitate the creation of inclusive AI-driven ecosystems in education and employment? What measures can be taken to address potential job losses and ensure a smooth transition for workers in industries progressively influenced by AI? We are delighted to announce that the upcoming event will feature a panel of distinguished experts, including Prof. Dr. Florian Butollo, Professor of Sociology of Digitalization of Work, Technische Universität Berlin, Research Fellow at the Weizenbaum Institute , Silke Gebel, Member of the Berlin House of Representatives, Alliance 90/Die Grünen, Thomas Habenicht, Project Manager and Scientific Associate, IG Metall, Kristin Keveloh, Senior Lead Manager, Public Policy and Economic Graph, LinkedIn, Matthias Lehmann, Head of the Department for Digitalization and IT, Senate Department for Labour, Social Services, Gender Equality, Integration, Diversity and Anti-Discrimination, and Sebastian Striegel, Member of the State Parliament of Saxony-Anhalt, Alliance 90/Die Grünen.
