Brown Bag Discussion: “From Reluctant to Destructive: How Will the Leaders of the Free World Shape the Liberal Order in 2017 and beyond?“

    • March 09, 2017

On March 9, 2017, the Aspen Institute Germany hosted a brown bag lunch discussion featuring Dr. Michael J. Mazarr, associate director of RAND Arroyo Center’s Strategy, Doctrine, and Resources Program and senior political scientist at RAND Corporation, and Prof. Dr. Joachim Krause, academic director at the Institute for Security Policy at Kiel University. The discussion addressed the question: “From Reluctant to Destructive: How Will the Leaders of the Free World Shape the Liberal Order in 2017 and beyond?“ The participants discussed today’s state of the liberal order, its future organization and development as well as current and future challenges under Chatham House Rule. A special emphasis was placed on the future international role of China and Russia as well as on the role of the new U.S. administration, the European Union, and Germany in shaping the international order.
