Fireside Chat with Verena Pausder: The Possibilities of Digital Education and Equal Opportunity

    • February 21, 2022

    • June 16, 2025

On February 21, 2022, Aspen Institute Germany hosted a virtual Fireside Chat with entrepreneur, founder and author Verena Pausder. In a joint conversation with moderator Dr. Stormy-Annika Mildner, Executive Director, Aspen Institute Germany, she described her career, challenges she encounters and her ideas for a more equal, modern, and digital society. Verena Pausder has devoted herself to promote digital education in schools to ensure equal participation opportunities for pupils. During the pandemic, which exposed severe shortcomings in Germany’s technological infrastructure, she created a platform to facilitate homeschooling activities for parents, pupils, and teachers. She founded two education tech companies and supports educational equality with “Digitale Bildung für alle e.V.”. In addition, she instituted #Stayonboard, an initiative that fought for a legal change to enable board members to temporarily pause their mandate, for example to care for children or family members. How can society drive new ways of digitalization and equal opportunities? What approaches should be taken to technology in everyday education?  The virtual Fireside Chat is part of a series of events organized by Aspen Institute Germany, in which a personal conversation between the speaker and the audience is encouraged.
