Think7 Summit – Research-based policy recommendations for the G7

    • May 23, 2022

    • May 24, 2022

Aspen Germany is delighted to partner with the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) and the Global Solutions Initiative (GSI), as think tanks mandated for the Think7 process during the German G7 presidency in 2022. The summit is organized in partnership with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), and the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) and will take place on May 23 and 24, 2022, in Berlin.
In the Think7 group, leading think tanks from the G7 countries work together with civil society and business to develop proposals for forward-looking agreements between the G7 member states. Besides short-term responses such as providing vaccines or financial support programs in the G7 countries and beyond, this responsibility also implies stewardship for longer-term systemic transformations that generate an environmentally sustainable, socially just and resilient recovery in a multilateral system.
Taking into account the repercussions of the war in Ukraine, we will present and discuss the key policy recommendation put forward by the Think7 Task Forces on Climate and Environment, Sustainable Economic Recovery, Global Health, International Cooperation for the Global Common Good and Social Cohesion, Economic Transformation and Open Societies. With high-level representatives from the German Federal Government we want to enter into dialogue about the contribution of the G7 Summit in Elmau to solving the most urgent global challenges.
We are happy to announce that the Head of the Federal Chancellery, Minister Wolfgang Schmidt, will give a keynote about the prospects for the G7 Summit in Elmau.
The draft programme and further information is on our Think7 website: please click here.
The Think7 Summit will be an on-site event. Plenary sessions of the Summit will be held in a hybrid format. The on-site venue will be the premises of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and the German Council on Foreign Relations in Berlin. You can register here to participate in the Think7 Summit and let us know whether you are considering on-site participation.
