Virtual discussion “Unser täglich Brot gib uns heute – aber wie?”

    • July 07, 2021
  • -
    • February 03, 2023

The social discussion about agriculture is controversial, the expectations of the population are clear: Agriculture should contribute to environmental protection and natural reserve and at the same time ensure that people are supplied with wholesome food. Farmers face extreme challenges: climate change, a rapidly growing world population, limited areas for cultivation. Resources must be used effectively and in an environmentally friendly way in order to guarantee sustainable food security.
The event series The Future of Food & Farming pushes the often ideological discussion about the configuration of agriculture into the middle of society. The series was kicked off by Unser täglich Brot gib uns heute – aber wie?. Two discussion rounds with distinguished panelists from politics, climate protection, futurology, and agriculture elaborated on the status quo of agriculture and food security, the potential for social conflict and setting the course for the future: Is agriculture still profitable in Germany these days? How do climate protection and chemical pesticides fit together? How do we maintain the soil in Germany in such a way that vegetables and grains can still be harvested by future generations? And how can CO2 emissions be drastically reduced?
The recorded event is available via YouTube:
