German-American Trade and Tech Dialogue 2023-2024

German-American Trade and Tech Dialogue 2023-2024

After a successful GATTD cycle from October 2022 to October 2023, the Aspen Institute Germany will continue the German-American Trade and Technology Dialogue (GATTD) for a second cycle. At a time when crucial elections on both sides of the Atlantic will shape the future of the transatlantic relationship, the Dialogue process provides ample opportunity to discuss approaches to, and areas of, cooperation. In addition to topics, which were already discussed during the first GATTD cycle, such as the dismantling of trade barriers, cooperation on export controls, and supply chain security, the GATTD will also address new issues such as financial stability, the future of currencies, and the perspective of emerging economies on the transatlantic relationship. Given the rapid pace of political, economic, and technological change, the project will strengthen existing links between transatlantic policymakers and create new networks.

Conference in Berlin – Aspen Institute Germany

The German-American Trade and Tech Conference will be held March 19-20, 2024 at the Landesvertretung Baden-Württemberg in Berlin. Click here for more information.

Workshops

In three interactive online workshops, decision-makers and leading experts will identify and discuss common challenges to U.S.-German cooperation in the areas of trade and technology. These discussions will serve as a basis for defining opportunities for cooperation and future solutions. They will foster networking among stakeholders and raise awareness of different priorities and perceptions based on different industries and countries. The dialogue process will generate valuable knowledge and insights for participants, as well as for decision-makers and the general public.

The workshops will be held under the Chatham House Rule. The first workshop is scheduled for January 2024. Participants will meet again in May 2024, before the final GATTD 2023/2024 Workshop in September 2024. The exact dates and topics of the workshops will be communicated to GATTD participants in due course.
