Berlin Process Civil Society and Think Tank Forum 2022 – Conference

    • November 01, 2022

    • November 02, 2022

On November 1-2, 2022, the Aspen Institute Germany and the Southeast Europe Association jointly hosted the second part of the Civil Society & Think Tank Forum: a conference in Berlin with more than 100 participants. Supported by the German Federal Foreign Office, this conference allowed civil society representatives from the Western Balkans to present policy recommendations to stakeholders from their region and from other European countries. These recommendations were developed during a preparatory workshop that included three working groups on the Green Agenda, “Energy Transition,” “Climate Change,” and “Protection of the Environment and Environmentally Sustainable Development,” as well as groups on “EU Integration in a Changing Geopolitical Environment,” “Information Disorder,” and “Infrastructure Investments.”
By fostering a lively exchange between civil society and decision-makers, the Aspen Institute Germany and the Southeast Europe Association were able to  support the Berlin Process that seeks to strengthen regional cooperation and facilitate a continuous dialogue among the Western Balkan countries as well as with EU member states. Through a two-day program consisting of topical panel discussions, workshops, and “spotlight” talks, the conference sought to strengthen the voice of civil society and promote “local ownership” of policy discussions in the Berlin Process.
The conference report and the policy recommendations can be found here.
